Using the 3 top and 2 bottom straps was a bit unnerving for me, but everything went fine. Everything did settle when I opened the zipper to pull something out of my bag. I had to tighten all the straps all over again. Otherwise, fantastic product and it added sorely needed cargo space to my Pacifica.
