Choosing Blue Ox is like having a baseplate custom-made for your vehicle. Blue Ox baseplates are easy on your suspension and even easier on the eye. They have been designed with hidden reinforcement. Blue Ox does not offer a one-size-fits-all support system, but rather a system that is shock absorbing and integrated into the individual bumper frame or unibody with the bumper design of your vehicle. Blue Ox's philosophy is to let the baseplate torsion, or flex, similar to receiver hitches allowing the baseplate to absorb the forces of towing rather than rigidly transferring the forces to the frame of the vehicle.

Blue Ox BX1692 Base Plate Review

Received box, Wow heavy. instructions spell it out perfect. I would recommend reading thru the instructions to make sure you are comfortable with the scope of work.
The only issue for me is I use there 10k bar for pulling my fullsize van and the ends are not the same. I hade purchased there aluminum bar @ A flee market to resell,and it has the correct single ends. so I have to swap bars for each vehicle.
What I like the best is you do not see it on the car when you are not towing. I found a small box that the removable ends fit in tight and put them in the rear storage compartment when not in use.
I ordered 10 15 amp diodes off of ebay for the lighting (5 bucks) and doubled dioded the rear lights so it will not back feed the wiring that I put in. Also you have to pull a fuse when towing, I made a loom from the fuse to go thru a switch that I found @ Pepboys that is flat and is shrouded and resessed so there are no covers to pull off. I ran a trailer loom from the front to rear. It was very easy I only had to pull the rear driver side panel. Under the hood there is a very large rubber grommet where the main loom goes thru, use a long #2 Phillips screwdriver to make the hole to the inside drivers side. I heat shrink tubed the part of loom that is under the hood and am using a flat 4 cable that ends @ the left side attachment point.
With all of this done it takes no time @ all to hook up and go. You have to leave a key in the ignition, but with the body computer turned off (switch I installed) the key will not come out and the car will not start. I just bring another key to lock the door.
